Upgrade your smile and confidence

with the help of dental veneers at our clinic near Keysborough!

Our smile is meant to be beautiful. But sometimes, there could be little imperfections like chipped, cracked, stained, malformed or even misshapen teeth, which can mar the beauty of our smile. Dental Veneers are a wonderful cosmetic intervention to give you a perfect smile that looks natural, without having to go through any major procedure.

What are dental veneers?

A dental veneer is like a thin, custom made shell made of porcelain or other composite material, which is bonded to the front of the tooth to hide any flaws or imperfections, and to improve its overall appearance. These are made to look just like the natural surface of your teeth in terms of size, shape and colour, and once bonded, will blend in with your other teeth.

Veneers can also be used to protect and strengthen teeth that have broken or developed minor cracks. We also cater to patients who look at dental veneers as a complementary procedure to teeth whitening, at our clinic near Keysborough. This is often a recommended option when there are multiple teeth requiring restorative work.

Are veneers suitable for all?

Applying dental veneers is a minimally invasive procedure, and this makes it suitable for most people. However, there are certain people for whom these would not be suitable. Our dentists do not recommend veneers for those with gum disease or extremely misaligned teeth, as these will need to be treated before the application of veneers. Also, those who have the habit of grinding their teeth will not be suitable candidates for dental veneers.

What can you expect during the procedure?

The procedure can differ slightly on the basis of what type of veneers selected. While composite veneers can be directly bonded over your teeth in one visit, porcelain veneers will require one additional visit, as they are made in a dental laboratory, on the basis of a mould of your original teeth.

For composite veneers, our dentist will apply tooth-coloured resin directly over your teeth, and will sculpt it as per the desired shape. This will then need to be hardened using a high-intensity light and polished to give a better appearance.

Porcelain veneers might require some prep work, in which the teeth are reshaped to make space for the porcelain veneers. Our dentist then takes an impression of the teeth, and sends it to a dental laboratory which creates custom veneers accordingly. A temporary set of veneers will be provided till the next visit, during which your actual dental veneers will be bonded to your teeth, in our clinic near Keysborough.

Which is a better material – composite resin or porcelain?

Both composite and porcelain veneers have their pros and cons, which our dentists will walk you through. But broadly speaking, while composite is more affordable and less invasive, porcelain is known for its exceptional durability. So, the final choice will be based on your unique requirements, time available and your budget.
